Orbit’s Head of Health Safety & Insurance, Jayne Lombardi, has received the Woman of The Year Award at the Safety & Health Excellence Awards 2022, held at the NEC in Birmingham.
The awards celebrate innovation and achievements in the health and safety sector, with the Woman of The Year Award recognising a female health and safety professional who has made a significant contribution to the implementation or enhancement of health, safety or wellbeing standards within either their own organisation, or a woman working within the health and safety sector who has made a significant contribution to their organisation.
Jayne Lombardi, Head of Health Safety & Insurance at Orbit, commented: “I’m extremely proud to have received this award and would like to thank our health and safety and customer safety teams at Orbit whose dedication and support is essential to the work we deliver – I would not have collected this award without them. The past year has thrown many challenges at us, but we have successfully navigated through these and continued to excel in what we do. To be recognised like this is hugely rewarding.”

Highlights from the past year for Orbit’s Health and Safety team include adopting the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Safer by design framework for all future new-build homes, the only housing association to maintain BS9997 (Fire Safety Management) accreditation, effectively implementing control measures related to the management of COVID 19, and the launch of Orbit’s very own Health and Safety Excellence Awards.
Orbit has also recently received the RoSPA Gold Award 2022 for Customer Safety and RoSPA Highly Commended in the Public Service & Local Government Industry Sector Award 2022 for Group Health and Safety, as well as a Merit Award in the British Safety Council International Safety Awards 2022
