Orbit donates show home lights to raise money for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex

Orbit has donated a collection of lights to raise money for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), after the relocation of its Kings Oak Park show home in Kent.

Kings Oak Park is a collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses and two-bedroom bungalows, located in Headcorn. The development is a joint venture between Orbit and Kent-based construction company, Westerhill Homes.

Following relocation of the four-bedroom show home in December, Orbit and Westerhill Homes arranged for an assortment of show home lights to be sold with the proceedings going to Air Ambulance KSS.

The collection of unwanted lights included ceilings fittings, large lanterns and a large globe with six candle bulbs. The lights were purchased by employees at Orbit and Westerhill Homes, which generated £160 for Air Ambulance KSS.

The amount raised could help Air Ambulance KSS fund two sets of tubing for ventilators, which help patients to breathe after being anaesthetised. The money donated could also fund 400 fluid repellent surgical masks to protect Air Ambulance KSS’ crew, as well as 300 syringes used to administer life-saving drugs at the scene of an incident.

Pravin Amarasinghe, Sales & Marketing Director at Orbit Homes said: “At Orbit, we are committed to creating a better society by reinvesting our profits to improve local services and communities. Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex is an independent charity, who provide fast-response, emergency medical care 24-hours a day. Last year alone, they were called out to help over 2,500 people in life-threatening conditions.

“It is pleasing to see how money generated by the sale of our unwanted show home lights can be invested to support such an amazing and vital service.”

In September last year, Orbit also provided a donation of £250 to the Mothers Prayers Solace charity, following the sale of show home furniture at its Victoria Quarter development in Ashford.

Jo Richards, Sales and Marketing Director at Westerhill Homes added: “Westerhill Homes is proud to support the work of Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex. We never know when our families will need their life-saving skills and, as all our developments are in Kent, we are delighted to be able to generate a donation is this rather unusual way from one of our local schemes.

“Instead of the unused lighting going into storage, the donations given to Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex will benefit the community, which is ethos we wholeheartedly support.”
