Orbit coronavirus update

Recent weeks have been unpredictable for everyone. The priority for Orbit during the coronavirus outbreak will be to do everything we can to best support our customers and staff.

This brings unprecedented commercial and practical challenges as we manage the balance of keeping people safe whilst continuing to deliver operational services to customers.

Orbit has a robust business continuity plan for managing coronavirus, which has been established to best protect our customers and employees. In line with government guidance, we are now instructing the majority of our employees to work from home. However, we are currently operating a normal service and our front-line teams continue to function. If we do reduce our service provision, our primary focus will be to carry out emergency repairs that are needed to keep residents safe.

We are providing additional support to our customers. Primarily, this is within our independent living schemes where our customers are older and potentially more vulnerable. We are following government advice on the precautions that vulnerable individuals must take to self-isolate and supporting their wellbeing is a key priority.

We are also reviewing the services we offer to our customers through our Better Days programme and exploring ways in which this can be enhanced to ensure we can support customers in the greatest financial need, whilst promoting existing programmes.

Orbit is in a strong position and we have good working relationships with our long-term investor partners. We have a healthy balance sheet and are well placed to manage this unprecedented event.
