Orbit is proud to become the first housing association in the UK to achieve accredited professional membership status of the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI).

In order to achieve this, the housing association was audited and assessed against BALI’s code of conduct, which encourages its members to provide the highest standards of quality, workmanship and service.

The accreditation included investing in employee training and skills development, adhering to health and safety regulations, as well as considering the environmental and ethical implications of what they do, and running their operations with honesty and integrity.

Commenting on the achievement, Wayne Grills, Chief Executive at BALI said: “We are delighted Orbit has joined BALI as a Registered Direct Service Organisation member and achieved our prestigious registered title for its commitment to the landscapes it owns across the Midlands, east and south.

“Orbit is the first housing group to be accredited and we are looking forward to discovering new synergies between us that will see quality housing complimented by superior landscaping.”

Dan Bird, Regional Estates Manager at Orbit said: “We are proud to be accredited by BALI for enhancing the specifications that our in-house Grounds Maintenance teams work towards.

“Our improvements in productivity and the utilisation of more modern working practises mean that we will be able to refocus our existing resources to deliver sustainable, visually pleasing communal grounds and open spaces for our customers as part of our commitment to create great places to live.”

Orbit’s Director of Property Services, Caroline Davies added that, “The BALI accreditation offered a number of key components directly aligned to our own vision of building thriving communities, including a focus on quality, health & safety as well as environmental and ethical considerations.”

The British Association of Landscape Industries is established to promote, support and inspire all professional landscapers, garden designers and landscape suppliers to be leaders of an environmentally, ethically and commercially sustainable landscape industry. BALI is the leading Trade Association for the nation's landscape professionals and delivers exceptional business, technical and promotional support to its members.
