There are more lockers for learners to store their belongings in at Liberty College, a specialist post-16 setting in Margate, thanks to a donation from not-for-profit housing group Orbit.
Ahead of an office relocation, instead of leaving the lockers to simply sit in storage, Orbit offered the lockers to Liberty College to help provide more places for learners to store their equipment.
All lockers from Orbit’s previous office in the area were handed over to the college and are already being used by learners now the new school year is well underway.
Colin Welsh, Head of Facilities at Orbit, said: “Given our office relocation we’d been left with some lockers that we no longer required and were committed to finding a new home for these in the local community. For us, it was important to avoid unnecessary disposal or storage of perfectly good equipment that could make a difference elsewhere.
“Liberty College felt like the perfect place for us to send the lockers to and we’re very proud to support the college with this small donation that can now help make the day-to-day a bit easier for their learners. We hope they make use of the lockers for many years to come.”
Lauren Lawley, Head of College at Liberty College, added: “Support from local businesses really helps us maintain a well-equipped, nurturing environment for our learners with additional needs and we’re very grateful to Orbit for this kind donation. These lockers help us ensure that the learners have one less thing to worry about when they’re studying with us here, which can make a real difference.”
