Residents and colleagues at Orbit's Rainbow Fields later living scheme in Shipston-on-Stour have raised over £600 for the UK’s leading breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now, through a community fundraising event inspired by a resident currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Residents at the scheme which provides homes for people aged over 55, organised a car boot-style sale, selling homemade cakes, sweet treats, food and personal items in support of their friend and neighbour Jacqueline.
All proceeds from the sale were donated to Breast Cancer Now along with an additional contribution of £250 directly from Orbit through its charity funding scheme, which brought the total raised to an impressive £614.
Sharon Hall, Scheme Officer at Rainbow Fields for Orbit, said: "We were delighted to support our customers in organising this fantastic fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now. Everyone involved was inspired by the courage and resilience shown by Jacqueline, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
"The event demonstrated the incredible sense of community we have at Rainbow Fields, and I am extremely proud of our customers and colleagues for raising such a significant amount for a very worthwhile cause."
Jacqueline added: "I am really grateful for everyone's kind support and very proud of the effort to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now. I would also like to thank Orbit for the support they have provided me and for helping to bring the community together in support of such an important cause."
Anna Hadjivassiliou, a senior community fundraiser at Breast Cancer Now, said: “We say a heartfelt thank you to the residents and colleagues at Orbit's Rainbow Fields for their amazing fundraising on behalf of Breast Cancer Now.
“With a women diagnosed with breast cancer every nine minutes in the UK and a man every day, your support has never been more vital.
