Orbit announces new £550m social value target

Orbit has announced a new, ambitious social value target of £550 million by 2030.

After successfully reaching its original £100m target ahead of schedule, Orbit has worked closely with HACT (Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust), to develop an expanded, organisation‑wide social value framework. The enhanced framework captures a broader and more holistic range of social and economic outcomes, including the value generated through the delivery of new affordable homes, repairs, maintenance and other core landlord services as well as the additional social value generated through frontline services and supply chain.

This expanded approach has enabled Orbit to set a new social value target of £550 million by 2030, significantly strengthening its long‑term commitment to delivering measurable, meaningful outcomes for customers, communities and wider society.

Afzal Ismail, Chief Regulatory & Governance Officer and Executive Sponsor for Sustainability at Orbit, said: “Achieving our £100 million social value target ahead of schedule was a significant milestone for Orbit and a clear demonstration of our commitment to creating positive, lasting change for our customers and communities.

“By broadening our social value framework across the organisation and making greater use of the UK Social Value Bank and the Built Environment Bank, we are now able to capture the full extent of the impact we create through everything we do – from day‑to‑day services to the homes we build. This has given us the confidence to set a more ambitious target of £550 million by 2030.”

Orbit will continue to work in partnership with HACT as it embeds its enhanced framework across the business, ensuring that social value remains central to decision‑making, investment planning and service delivery and that progress towards the £550 million target is transparent, credible and independently assured.
