Stratford-upon-Avon Mayor, Cllr Dani Hunter, joined residents at Briar Croft, an Orbit Later Living scheme, to enjoy a special Christmas performance courtesy of the 1st Stratford Scouts.
1st Stratford Scouts, the town’s oldest Scout group, performed a host of festive favourite Christmas carols, including ‘away in a manger’, ‘silent night’ and a ‘jingle bells’ rendition that got everyone rocking.
The Scouts also took tea and coffee orders from the residents at the extra care scheme on the night and gifted each of them a special handmade Christmas tree decoration.
Sharron Weston, Scheme Manager for Orbit at Briar Croft, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the 1st Stratford Scouts and the Mayor to Briar Croft for a festive singalong that really marked the start of the Christmas season for many of our residents. The Scouts were amazing in bringing the Christmas cheer and we’re really grateful to them for coming along, it’s always lovely to see a mix of generations coming together for a fun time.”
Councillor Dani Hunter, Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council, said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to join in with the Christmas celebrations at Briar Croft with residents and the 1st Stratford Scouts. It was brilliant being part of a fun event that connected different generations together at this special time of year and I’d like to thank Orbit for inviting me to join in the festivities. I’d also like to give a special thanks to the 1st Stratford Scouts for getting us all into the Christmas spirit with their wonderful performance.”
Christine McIntosh, Deputy Group Scout Leader for 1st Stratford Scouts, added: “Our Scouts really enjoy getting involved with our local community and were delighted to visit Briar Croft and spread the Christmas cheer. The children had so much fun performing for the residents and Mayor and we’re really proud of them.”
