A group of talented art students have created a wall of prints to be displayed on the construction hoarding of Arden Quarter, a new residential development located near Stratford train station.

Eleven students from Years 9 and 12 at Stratford-upon-Avon School, just a stone’s throw from the development, were approached by Orbit to produce art for its £40m flagship development in the heart of the town. Students were briefed to interpret the theme of ‘a great place to live’, reflecting the vision and values of the organisation and the heritage of both the site and the town.

Chris Owen, Curriculum Leader for Art & Photography at Stratford-upon-Avon School, said: “It is a pleasure to work with a local organisation on a community project, we were so grateful to be asked and have the chance to give our students such an exciting opportunity to exhibit their work.”

The artwork will now be digitally scanned and designed into frames before being printed and displayed across a section of the hoarding opposite the train station car park on Brunel Way in the coming weeks.

Commenting on the project, Anthony Holt, interim development director at Orbit, one of the UK’s largest housing providers, said: “We are delighted to have such talented art students on board; they have created a fantastic collection of vibrant, inspired pieces that bring to life our mission of building communities.

“Arden Quarter is an important development for both Orbit and Stratford-upon-Avon. With the site having been empty since the closure of the cattle market in 2001, this regeneration project sees the creation of a new inclusive community, providing aspirational yet affordable homes for all generations to enjoy.”

Due to be completed in early 2020, Arden Quarter will provide 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes for rent and sale. There are also retirement living properties available for people aged 55-plus.

For anyone interested in the development, Orbit will open a sales and marketing suite on site in May 2018.
