Great opportunity for an experienced manager looking for a new role. We are looking for an Area Manager to support our Independent Living team.

We are looking for a customer focused individual with strong experience in delivery excellent service with strong people management skills. You will be used to delivering results, managing, and motivating a team and have the ability to work at pace.

The role involves overseeing schemes (sheltered and ExtraCare) on a national basis, so your team will be spread out over Midlands, South and East. You will need to have a good understanding of supporting vulnerable customers and providing a high-quality service whilst maintaining budgets and spend. Ideally you will have had experience of tendering commissioned service and contract monitoring. You will have the ability to work at pace in a team that is constantly developing and evolving.  

This is a national travel role, you will oversee schemes (and staff) based in the East, Midlands and South so flexibility is key in your approach to work.

What will help you make a difference.

  • Experience / understanding of managing housing and services to older and vulnerable customers.
  • Experience and skills in people management and development
  • Experience of contract monitoring
  • Experience of setting and monitoring targets and KPIs, and improving performance
  • Practical experience of setting and managing budgets and monitoring financial performance
  • Strong customer service ethos and culture, able to make decisions based on customer feedback and understanding their needs
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity, treating others with respect and managing the impact of behaviours on others.
  • Experience of customer engagement and communications
  • Able to work at own initiative, plan and organise own work and that of the team
  • Able to manage and embed change, understanding the impact on colleagues and customers
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different teams, and with partners, to achieve shared goals
  • A commitment to continuing professional development
  • Ability to create a safe, continuous improvement culture
  • Knowledge of social housing funding, regulation and current housing sector practice
  • IT literate and able to use Orbit property database, CRM, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel as this is a nation role.
  • Willing and able to participate in the out of hours emergency roster.
