Your role at Orbit.

We’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our busy IT department, based out of our Head Office in Coventry. The role may also require travel to our other offices from time to time.

The primary function of the Network Engineer is to provide a proactive, well maintained and efficient 3rd line technical support service for the Group. You will work with the wider IT team and 3rd parties to resolve problems and queries relating to the core network (both cloud and on-premise) and be part of continuous improvement strategies.

This role will involve regular liaison with suppliers and customers, so good communication and stakeholder management is key, where you will act as a technical expert for the Group’s infrastructure. 1st and 2nd line escalation support will also be a key element of the position. Our Network team are also expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business, including partaking in the team rota to ensure all core and on call hours are covered.


What will help you make a difference.

As our ideal Network Engineer, you will have experience in a similar role where you’ve designed, configured, managed, documented and maintained LAN/WAN products (preferably Cisco/Fortinet/Checkpoint/Azure) and protocols (MPLS, VPN, ISE etc).  In addition, you will be capable of technically training/mentoring less experienced engineers.

You will also have:

  • Experience in supporting on premise and cloud based fixed telephony, Skype for Business/Teams and Contact Centre technologies (preferably Anywhere 365)
  • Experience with mobile technologies and Mobile Device Management (preferably Airwatch & Intune)
  • Experience in managing/maintaining WIFI infrastructure (preferably Aruba)
  • Experience in designing, configuring, managing and maintaining the network side of cloud platforms (Hybrid, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Azure Express Route etc)

Alongside the technical background, you’ll have key soft skills such as good communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and 3rd parties. You’ll also have demonstrable organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with great attention to detail.
