Division Orbit Homes

Orbit is a fantastic business and one that’s really going places.

Orbit was formed in 1967 with the aim of providing good-quality housing for people who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy their own home.

Over 50 years later, we’re one of the leading housing providers in the UK.  Our services have diversified, our housing portfolio has expanded, and our reputation as an innovator within our sector has grown.  But one thing that has never changed.  Our belief in people and what they can achieve.

Your role at Orbit.

With an established track record delivering over 10,000 homes to date and ambition to build a further 6,500 new homes before 2025, Orbit is one of the country’s major housing developers.

Our activities as a housing group ensure that we have an annual surplus that we reinvest into building more homes where people love to live and nurturing communities that thrive.  That’s the difference when you work in construction at Orbit.  You are part of an organisation that believes in its customers and its people, and what they can achieve together.

We are recruiting a permanent Assistant Quantity Surveyor or our commercial team in the South East of England.  We have a good number of developments in progress, numerous sites due to commence and a strong landbank for direct build and other contracted schemes.

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will form part of the divisional commercial team and assist the team in the control and management of all development costs from the original budget to final accounts and development completion.

You will support the procurement and management of the supply chain to minimise development costs to ensure value for money and cost effective, quality and timely construction.

You will be involved in every aspect of the commercial process and we will invest in your development and growth as a Quantity Surveyor.

The package includes a competitive basic salary plus car allowance, group bonus potential, private medical insurance, 27 days holiday plus 9 bank holidays, contributory pension scheme and much more.

What will help you make a difference.

Our Assistant Quantity Surveyor will have similar experience in the housebuilding or main contractor sector with a basic technical knowledge of all aspects of housing development.

You will possess a minimum level 4 HNC in Construction or equivalent with some experience on new build developments.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will have good analytical, negotiation and communication skills and be well organised and self-motivated.

We know that an inclusive environment makes us more accessible and ensures we attract, engage, promote and retain great people. We welcome applications from all individuals regardless of background, age, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity/nationality, religious belief, faith or disability.  As part of our Armed Forces Covenant commitment, we welcome ex-services professionals to consider career opportunities at Orbit.

This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. Agile working arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.

Some of our core benefits include:

  • Car allowance £4,200
  • Group bonus potential up to 15% of salary
  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays and the “Orbit day”
  • Private medical insurance
