Apprenticeships

In this 12 month scheme, you’ll be welcomed into a team at Orbit in an entry-level role, practically anywhere across the organisation. We have previously recruited Apprentices in Finance, Information Technology (IT), HR, Lettings, Marketing (to name just a few!). You’ll be supported by your team as you learn on the job and get the chance to achieve a well recognised apprenticeship during your time with us.

As part of our highly successful Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll also have the chance to get together with all the other Apprentices and deliver your own project. Our recent Cohort delivered a fabulous wellbeing programme for our employees. As a result, they were nominated as Finalists for 2 prestigious awards in 2019 for their efforts.

In addition to the above, our Apprenticeship programme offers you:

A well recognised qualification
You will undertake a well recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship whilst gaining useful experience with both on and off the job training.

Experience
You will develop the skills you need to fulfil your ambitions and on successful completion of your Apprenticeship, you'll have a years experience in industry with the opportunity to move into a permanent role on a competitive salary.
Salary
Competitive salary starting at £10,595 per annum.
Lunchtime Learning Sessions
These sessions are hosted by Senior people within the business and take place every 2 months over lunch. They provide a really valuable insight into other areas of the business.
Personal Development Plan
We will also provide you with a Personal Development Plan to support your learning during your time on our programme.

Eligibility
Our apprenticeship programme is open to anyone over the age of 16. To be eligible to apply, you will need to have 5 GCSE’s at Grades A-C (9-4). You may have just left school, or college, or may be coming to us much later on in life, looking to build new skills or find a way into work.

Recruitment Process
  • First Stage: If you’re shortlisted for the Apprenticeship we’ll contact you to undertake a short pre-telephone screening interview.
  • Second Stage: If you’re successful from the pre-telephone screening interview we’ll invite you to one of our assessment centres.
  • Third Stage: When receiving the invite to our assessment centre you’ll also be asked to complete an online assessment prior to attending.
  • Fourth Stage: Assessment centres. These have been specifically designed to make you feel relaxed so you can be at your best and show your full potential. 

Applications for our Apprenticeship Programme open in June, with Assessment Centres throughout July with a September start date.

Degree Apprenticeships

Our Degree Apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity to undertake a high level degree, whilst earning a salary and gaining valuable real life experience in the workplace.

The programme combines working with studying part-time at college or university, and can take between 3 to 6 years to complete, depending on the course level. You’ll be employed by Orbit throughout and spend part of your time at college or university, which can be on a day-to-day basis or in blocks of time, dependent on the course and the way in which it’s delivered.

Our Degree Apprenticeship Programme offers you:

A well recognised qualification
You’ll undertake a full bachelor's degree as part of your apprenticeship.

Experience
You’ll develop the skills you need to fulfil your ambitions and on successful completion of your Degree Apprenticeship, you’ll have valuable experience in the housing industry.
Salary
You’ll receive a competitive salary which will increase in line with your skills and as you progress with your qualification.

Eligibility
Entry requirements include at least five GCSEs grades A – C (9 – 4 on the new grading system), and Level 3 qualifications, including A levels, NVQ/SVQ Level 3, or a BTEC National. Dependant of the specific Degree Apprenticeship, we may also expect or require you to have qualifications in subjects related to the particular apprenticeship which we will advertise in the job role.
Group project
You’ll work together with your Apprentice cohort to tackle a strategic project together from a key area of the business.
